Bay Area Trout Season is in full swing. My go to choice for fishing for these planted trout is a mini-jig. Pair the mini-jig with an UL rod and some light line and you can have some real fun catching these trout. My current set-up with a few mini-jig options are summarized below.
1. You need a good fishing rod that has flexibility in the tip as well as some back bone to set the hook.
a. My current rod is the Okuma Guide Select Pro UL 7'6" model
b. I have this rod paired with a Shimano Stradic 2500 - any good UL reel will do
c. My current line of choice is Maxima Ultragreen - but there are other options
2. Mini-Jig Color Options - So far my top two choices are:
a. Grasshopper Color - Berkeley Power Tube 1/32 oz
b. Diablo Blanco Color - Sierra Slammers Mini Jig 1/32 oz
